Day trips from Zürich offer visitors the chance to see some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring landscapes in Europe.

Located in the northern region of this alpine country, Zürich is ideally situated as a base from which to explore the surrounding regions.

Lucerne

Lying on the shores of Lake Lucerne, the bustling city of Lucerne is located south of Zurich. Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi are within sight of Lucerne and this adds to the destinations popularity among tourists and adventure seekers.

Sights visited on a day trip to Lucerne include the 15th century Chapel Bridge, the Old Town, the Verkehrshaus or the Rosengart Museum.

To see the city from another perspective, take a boat cruise on the Lake or spend the day wandering through the medieval city streets.

Mount Titlis

Located 68 kilometers south of Zürich, Mount Titlis is one of the highest accessible mountain peaks in Switzerland and offers spectacular views throughout the year.

Rhine Falls

The 23 meter high Rhine Falls are around 50 kilometers north of Zürich on the High Rhine River close to the town of Schaffhausen.

Interlaken

Interlaken is one of Switzerland’s oldest holiday resorts and is located in the Bernese Oberland.

Engelberg

At the foot of Mount Titlis, Engelberg is a small resort village with a lot to offer. Known for its hospitality and wonderful summer and winter activities, Engelberg is a great choice of day trip destination for active and adventurous travelers.

Engelberg has a protracted snow season (from October to May) and skiing and other winter sports are popular. In the summer months, the trails offer wonderful hiking opportunities and guests can take the cliff walk, glacier park visit and cross the suspension bridge.

Bern

Bern is a medieval UNESCO World Heristage site and the Swiss capital city.

The city includes some of the most fascination landmarks sucg as the Old Town, the Clock Tower and Rathausplatz, The Gothic Bern Cathedral with its spectacular viesw over the Aare river.

If you have the enrgy to ascend and descend the steep staircases at the church you will be richly regarded with the magnificent panoramic views just waiting for your camera to capture them.

Einstein’s bench, museum and house are also among the top visited attractions in the city.

Appenzell

Appenzell remains one of Switzerland’s most traditional regions and offers a glimpse into a quieter way of life in rural Switzerland. The village is car-free making it safe to stroll through the village street on foot.

Apart from taking in the local sights, there are also the nearby Maestrani chocolate factory and Appenzell cheese factory.

For a truly unique experience, consider a spring or autumn visit when you will have the opportunity to watch as the cows are taken to and from their alpine pastures for the season.

Kleine Scheidegg

A day tour that includes Kleine Scheidegg will involve plenty of rail travel as you depart Zurich by coach before disembarking in Lauterbrunnen for a cogwheel train ride to the Kleine Scheidegg mountain pass.
