Jeronimos Monastery

Built-in 1495 until the end of the XVIth century, in the district of Belém, the Jerónimos Monastery is a former monastery of the Order of Saint Jerome. This Renaissance-style building merges a church and a monastery altogether. It is one of the prominent examples of Portuguese late Gothic Manueline style of architecture in Lisbon. This building was classified in 1983 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site like its neighbor the Belém Tower.
